CABANES & ORTUÑO in the XL Junior Spanish Championship The athlete from Yecla, Alejandro Ortuño, member of the Hotel La Paz-Ada Yeclano and with his sponsor CABANES & ORTUÑO, visited the "Carlos Gil Pérez" sports complex last weekend on the occasion of the XL Youth Spanish Championship, in which more than 600 athletes in a perfect setting for the competition. On Friday, Alejandro Ortuño's team left for Castilian Leonese lands, with almost six hundred kilometers ahead in which they talked about tactics, training and above all with an excellent atmosphere to provide the athlete with moments of relaxation and focus everything what lay ahead. The spotlight was on Saturday around seven in the afternoon, where the starting signal was given for the 3 series of semifinals, with a total of 33 registered. In summary, comment on the excellent image of Alejandro in Salamanca and the effort made during the little more than four minutes of the series. At the end of the test, Fran Carpena, Alejandro's coach told us: “Something we have always discussed with Alejandro is that the semifinals are very dangerous because, being a slow pace, athletes arrive with options that at normal pace would not be able to have a chance at the final. If we focus on the competitive section, Alejandro was placed in second position, as established, controlling the race at all times. However, in the last 300 meters he was unable to react to the decisive attack and we were on the verge of being able to access the final. With this competition, we close the winter season and in a week we will start the summer season where our priority objectives will be obstacles and 1500 m.l, in that order.” On the other hand, Alejandro Ortuño: “Today's race was really different from all the races he had participated in to date. A race that I dominated until the last lap, I stayed where I had to be until the key moment, but where the lack of experience in this type of indoor race played a trick on me and my legs failed me. I tried until the last meter, but it couldn't be. I finished in fifth position, less than a second from the time classification and almost two seconds from the position classification. This does not end here, now it's time to go back and train hard for the Aire Libre season where we have the goals set”.
