OBJECTIVE ACCOMPLISHED: Victory and minimal wear

The CABANES & ORTUÑO SPORTS team with Alejandro Ortuño, a member of the Hotel La Paz-Ada Yeclano club, traveled on Sunday to the "Luis Puig" velodrome in Valencia, where the regional championship was being played.

With almost millimeter precision, at 10:30 the test that occupied us began. Alejandro, disputed the 800 m.l. looking to pick up the pace and assimilate the change from cross-country to indoor competition. Our athlete, who made a slow start, had to overcome the initial error in two minutes, overtaking at times down lane 3, with the consequent extra meters in the early stages.
In the last lap, Alejandro, who was already in second position, chose to seek victory.
The athlete who accompanied him in the lead, attacked in the last 200 meters but gradually deflated, something that Alejandro took advantage of to impose a very strong change of pace in the last 100 meters, a pace that no athlete could follow.

It is undoubtedly a good victory, which despite not being the optimal distances for our athlete, are very necessary for this week's work, which will basically focus on finishing the preparation for next weekend, in which we leave the territorial tests to travel to Salamanca to the Spanish Championship in the 1500m.l.

Alejandro Ortuño, at the end of the race said: “It was a strange race, since I had never run this event on an indoor track. We had a mistake at the start, which was really slow, and they locked us up. On the second lap, we had to overtake on lane 3 to take the lead and try to find my expected race pace. Although that effort made me wear out more than we wanted, we were finally able to break the race, keep two athletes in the lead and finally make the last change of pace to leave.
In short, good feelings and looking forward to working for the next race”.

At the end of the test, Fran Carpena commented: “We have largely fulfilled the objective of this 800m test, since we were looking to assimilate faster paces for the 1500m.l next weekend. In addition, in this race some strategic points have been put into practice such as the starts, position in the group and final sprint.
As an anecdote, we were left with virtually winning the regional championship, in a slow race as usually happens in this type of championship.”
