Alejandro Ortuño, from the Club Hotel La Paz-Ada Yeclano and together with his sponsor CABANES & ORTUÑO, have left their mark on the XXXIV edition of the Cross Internacional de Itálica (Seville).
In this first foray into events of national and international importance, Alejandro Ortuño has marched with an excellent time record, in addition to entering the TOP FIVE, with
a difference of only six seconds from the podium, with a great temperature and a perfectly tailored circuit for the more than 600 athletes who gathered on Sunday.
Around 11:30 a.m. the starting signal was given for the test in the YOUTH/JUNIOR category, in which they had to travel 6630 meters, three laps on the circuit prepared for this category. From the beginning, Alejandro, well placed, left with the leading group in which six athletes competed, including two international ones, although they play for clubs in our country. Very strong rivals who set a very high pace from the start of the race.
As for the records set by Alejandro, always below 3:20 per kilometer, rolling at the end of the route in 22'07” at an average of 3'21”/km. Already in the final stages, three athletes prevailed with a somewhat higher pace, distancing only six seconds from our athlete.
Alejandro Ortuño commented at the end of the race: “If I want to define this race I would say excellent, today has been one of those days in which everything works, also thanks to the excellent work of my entire team who have taken care of me throughout the weekend. week, a very hard and at the same time very fun race, with very strong rivals who are among the best in Spain and Europe, but even so, very hard-fought, although in the last lap I suffered more due to lack of habit when running with the spike shoes Something that in the last kilometers has taken its toll on me. I am really very happy, although I am left with the thorn of the last meters of the finish, that I have been very close to being on the podium with the best, who have only been able to pass me by just over 5 seconds”
On the other hand, his coach, Fran Carpena: “Magnificent sensations from Alejandro that clearly indicate that we are on a very good path in preparation. He missed the podium, in the end, since when running two categories together we did not distinguish the numbers well to give him more information in the "lap to lap". Being in the top 5 of itálica is within the reach of very few athletes".
